Even though they aren't rules etched in stone, I would appreciate it if moderators kept the following in mind:
 
--Don't delete messages unless they're overtly offensive or abusive. If a message is just idiotic drivel or spam (sperm or eggs) move it to the Nuclear Waste Deposit. Such messages can be entertaining to read and reply to (at your own risk). Also, some mods seem to think it's ok to delete old and supposedly forgotten threads. I see no benefits to this as it only threatens to anger the author who wrote it, reduces the amount of reading material on the board, and reduces the post count of the forums. Long forgotten threads are known to suddenly return from the dead.
 
--If a new user posts a good message that doesn't seem to belong in the category it was posted in, pm the writer and tell them were you moved the message or just make a note and move the message a day later. We want to minimize the chance of potentially good members marching off because they thought their message was deleted.
 
--Above all keep in mind that people don't tend to like having their messages meddled with so I just ask that you use good judgment and be charitable. The main function of a trusted moderator as I see it is to protect the board from being dragged down by abusive users and not to nitpick the placement, grammar, etc., of otherwise good messages. If a message is neither spam nor abusive consider just leaving it alone unless it's so far out in left field that it requires moderator action (again use fair judgment.)
