Here we have the beginning of the crackup of the global warming issue. Windmills and biofuels won't cut it. If you are going to achieve the level of CO2 reduction that the "warmers" want you need nuclear energy and hydrogen or electric cars. The limited ethanol push in the U.S. is already driving up food prices. This will be interesting!
Georgia Power is going for two new nuclear reactors.
Actually, how could biofuel prices effect anything as they just started and so far fill in only a small, niche market? Actually, how could biofuel prices effect anything as they just started and so far fill in only a small, niche market? In the U.S. we have been growing corn to make ethanol and using it as in a gasoline blend. This has been going on for some time but it has been recently expanded. At first this drove up corn prices then as farmers shifted to growing more corn quantities of other crops have been reduced. The higher price of corn is also driving up the price of milk and meat. True this process has just started as Congress has passed a law to increase ethanol by a factor of six. It is also questionable if this corn based ethanol add net energy to the system when all factors are considered. I hear that the price of tortilla have increase by a factor of four in Mexico. What a minor issue for me can be come a matter of live and death in the poorer countries.
As usual it's 'brain dead' politicos and silly advocates of clean and environmentally friendly product 'con job' that silly people exclusively focus on 'green policy' gone nuts.
You see the negative consequences of silly policy in the agricultural market.
What bothers me is where these so called 'experts' were trained 'cause they really need to go back to some night school to maybe update their policy making skills.

Can you show proof to this claim?
EDIT:
The main problem with the environmental movement, in the USA anyway, that its too involved in politics and its followers commit the same fallacy that fundies do. They take one side of one issue, and instead of individually choosing sides for every issue, they assosiate one side of one issue to an entire political thinking or side.
From what I gather, the fundie parties have one strenght: they are unified in their belief. If you are member of a fundie party, you have a checklist for what you are for and what you are againts.
The same flawed system is done with enviromentalists: they don't do issue per issue, but instead feel out patterns rather then analysing for every action.
This is why many anti-nuclear advocates among environmentalists that otherwise can be quite sane and reasonable on another issue. The "greens" too, have a yay-nay checklist, some of which is quite sane while the others are not so.
The is also the simple fact that environmentalism has gathered more and more strong tides with political attitudes. It isn't just telling corporation to be more environmentally friendly, its againts corporation. Others want a communist economic system. And so on.
Individually, preaching about communism in itself is fine. THe thing is, nobody is going to take you seriously, and if they do, they won't be kind. So instead of reconsidering the idea of preaching about communism, let's throw some communist propaganda among environmentalist agenda.
This is just an example. Worldwide, there are similiar problems.
One reason that this process is still going forward is our "farm vote" which favors corn based ethanol regardless of its merits. Because every state in the U.S. has two senators the corresponding additional electoral votes in the presidential race farm states get some perks.
Many of the people supporting this such as Sen. Charles Schmer (D-NY) believe what I said but when the honorable sentor became the head of the 2006 Democrat Sentorial campaign committee his switched to the pro-ethanol view. Agrobusiness firms like ADM corp have been pushing for this for along time in the U.S.
One reason that this process is still going forward is our "farm vote" which favors corn based ethanol regardless of its merits. Well, uh... Carbon tax agribusiness and plow the investment toward planting trees? I've lived in Peru been in parts of the Amazon border. The Amazon should be used for both controlled agriculture and for the natural forest flora & fauna.
I think both can co-exist, I guess with some sort of balance. In any case it takes plenty of labor (jobs) any way you look at it to maintain a forest the size of the Amazon. And as far as energy and electrical power to take Brazil as an example they have some good nuke power plants.
But yea... your right first grow food for humans and keep the wild amazon for hunter/prey creatures to exist.
Actually that video had me scared for a minute but if the video has any merit why is it that the only solution is to shut down nuclear power plants? Could not a truly rational mind insist that the nuclear plant be built underground? But an environmentalist does not want a solution to any problem and it really upsets them if any solutions are offered. On the other hand to call all environmentalists wackos and to pretend that terrorism cannot happen is just as bad. So I think we should address the concerns of the environmentalists even though they spit on us when we offer solutions.
