does any one know what to use as a propellant for the vashon rocets i was going to use the air brush propellant from wal-mart but now it is flamable. can any one help me
The closest thing I can think of as a rocket propellant from Wal-Mart would probably be Potassium Nitrate in the form of, "Tree Stump Remover". Mix it in a dry 60/40 or 75/25 ratio* to get excellent performance, though I would not suggest making the compressed rocket candy. I ruined my portable electric-heater attempting to heat the accursed slurry to a proper temperature, and the risk of explosion was extremely high all the while.
*Say, 60 or 75 parts of Potassium Nitrate, and 40 or 25 parts of common table-sugar.
[past ASME president Reginald I.] Vachon published extensively and also consulted on several prominent design projects for the Department of Energy, Department of Defense, Environmental Protection Agency and NASA, where he worked on the early precursor to the solid rocket motors used on today’s space shuttle.
There is a really nice website about all things rocket. These folks are ameteurs, but they are extremely professional at what they do. They have launched some big liquid fueld rockets to. Go to: the Reaction Research Society
www.rrs.org
They even offer classes in how to safely build and test your own solid rocket motors. Anyone interested should probably contact them for details.
ok first of all it is vashon not vachon and for those of you who dont know what it is it's a cold power rocket witch means it uses pressure to launch the rocket in to the air so the the fuel can't be flamable it must be something like airbrush propellant but the walmart kind changed to a flamable substace ok can any one pleese help me
